Designing the Layout
On November 14, I began to create a rough draft layout for my two-page spread on StudioWorks. Only having gone over the basics of layout design, like columns, eyeline, dominant photo, captions, margins, and trapped white space, there was still plenty of room for improvement. On November 18, I set out to fix this, using two secondary coverage modules in order to add detail to my design. I shifted my design around a little bit to fit them and ended up with a layout not too different than my final draft. However, there was still one more addition to make to my layout, and that was degrees of separation. So on December 1, after going over degrees of separation and their uses, I included various uses of macro, micro, and conventional spacing on my layout. Finally, my layout was complete, meeting the requirements of basic layout design, secondary coverage modules, and degrees of separation, I had something I could use. That is how I reached the completion of this layout:
